Hello All, my name is Bankole Olubamise, an NGO activist based in Nigeria.
The parlous state of Africa is direct consequence of the gross abuse of leadership positions by African leaders. I love what former Ghanaian Leader Rawlings said yesterday on SABC " Its easy to get to power, its easy to stay in power, the problems comes when you are asked to leave power'. Its a shame that African leaders have to be cajoled to leave power or sometimes hunted down even when they have spent decades going round in circles. Its pathetic and a total disappointment that the Nigeria Leader is speculated to be seeking a 3rd term (a 4th term in actual fact- he was the leader in 1976-79, 1999, 2003....). Yet the economy is improving only for the rich and those in the corridors of power. All Nigerian assets are being sold in the name of privatization to the very weak private sector (less than 10% of African owned companies have survived 2 generations) that we claim to have in Africa!
maybe we should stop asking for democracy actually, just that other options are scary!!! Imagine Congo has been at war for the better part of half a century!
Is there something pathologically wrong with Africans?
